Since this is my first post I figured I would make it an introductory type post about my gout, my family, and of course myself. For the time being I will be known just as “Gout Dad”. Unfortunately, we now live in a world where people are unable to accept the uncomfortable reality and truths about who they are and what they project towards people. Being known simply by my blog name will allow me the freedom of expressing myself truthfully, but also spare those who simply “can’t handle the truth”.
So Here goes….
I live in a small Southern New Jersey town just about 15-20 minutes outside of Philadelphia. There is no fist pumping or masses of girls in leopard print clothes like Jersey Shore or Jerseylicious would have you believe. For the most part everyone in my town seems normal. However, like all of us, I’m sure everyone has their skeletons locked up. I am a 34 year old married father who works from home part-time and on the road the other times. At this point in my life I consider myself a authority of gout, having it now for about 15 years. I have tried most of the medical prescriptions out there, “Colchicine, Indometacin, Allopurinol, etc..” as well as some of the alternative methods. My last attack started around December and lasted off and on all the way up to today. During this time is when my wife and I started talking about having something to do to help track attacks and to keep my mind off of the pain I was going through. After some more thought we figured why not a blog? We figured this would be a great tool to help chronicle anything involving my gout but also be a sounding board and reference for others in my situation or others who may just be curious. Because I am who I am, I also figured I would talk about other subjects. According to my wife I AAAALLLLLWWWWWAAAYYYYYSSS have something to say. This is why my blog is titled “Gout Dad // Parenting with gout and everything in-between”. The in-between I am talking about is everything else going on in the world. Whether it’s family topics, sports and entertainment, political issues, weather, sex, etc… I will be discussing it all.
I will be discussing adult type material at times and I’m sure I will also use profanity here and there. If you are sensitive then I will be honest and tell you that
this probably won’t be the blog for you.
I wish you all great health, success, and happiness in 2013 and look forward to the exciting discussions that will come.
